The benefits of plastic surgery during the lockdown

Benefits of Plastic Surgery During the Lockdown

For the last 5 years in the United States, plastic surgery has been on the rise. With the onset of Covid-19, the pandemic that has uprooted all of our lives, we see even more of a plastic surgery boom.

Even though plastic surgery is becoming increasingly common, some patients still feel pressure to hide their procedures. They’d rather keep their surgeries secret than face stigmas and shame associated with taking the “easy way out.”

Sometimes it can take weeks to heal from surgery. This makes it difficult for those with busy lives who want to stay out of the limelight while healing. The pandemic, however, has made it much easier to take the necessary time to heal from home.

If you’ve been considering a procedure, the lockdown is a perfect time to do it. Keep reading to learn why plastic surgery during Covid-19 might be a great idea for you!

Why Do We See More Plastic Surgery During Covid-19?

The pandemic has changed, uprooted, and destroyed lives. It’s been a stressful and uncertain time for many people and their families. It’s also been a time of self-reflection and positivity for many.

Many people have taken the time to self-improve and work on themselves, physically, mentally, and spiritually. While some have caught up reading or spending more time with family, others have taken the time to get procedures they’ve always dreamed of.

There’s been a significant increase in surgeries across the United States because the lockdown offers time for patients to heal in peace and confidence. Lots of patients, both new and returning, are booking their surgeries in advance.

Benefits of Plastic Surgery in the Pandemic

Pandemic plastic surgery is becoming increasingly popular for several reasons. Let’s take a look at the most prominent benefits of getting surgery during the lockdown.

There’s Plenty of Time to Recover

Having time to stay home and recover in private is an integral component of the plastic surgery process. Patients would prefer to stay at home for more invasive procedures during recovery as it’s more practical and peaceful.

Due to Covid-19, many communities all over the world are on lockdown. Thus, it’s not strange for individuals and families to stay home for extended periods.

Nothing is odd about saying no to dinner parties, get-togethers, or opting to do virtual learning with your kids. Now is the perfect time to avoid running into people and going to events while you’re in the recovery period. Plus, if you do have to go out, wearing a mask could also help cover up your surgery while you heal.

Of course, this depends on the type of procedure you have.

Masks Can Hide the Healing Process

Plastic surgery on the face can be more invasive and more difficult to cover up than other surgeries. Thus, masks are the perfect solution for those who have had a facelift or rhinoplasty.

If you’ve had a facial procedure and do have to go out, opting to wear proper face coverage can help alleviate the chance of people recognizing your recent procedure.

It’s Easier to Take Time off Work

Patients put off or avoid getting the surgeries they’ve always wanted because they don’t want to take so much time off from work. However, depending on the occupation, many people are now working from home.

Some surgeries require weeks of healing time, and for patients to stay pretty inactive.

Right now, being able to stay home for an extended time is much easier. As long as you can still do your job and do it from home, you shouldn’t have to take time off or alert anyone at your job that you’re having a procedure done.

We’re Coming Into Winter

Another great reason to get your plastic surgery done now is that we’re coming into winter weather. Depending on where you live, winter clothes combined with the pandemic deem it a perfect time for plastic surgery.

Bulky clothes can help to conceal swelling and bruising. Plus, if you’re required to wear compression garments after your procedure, clothes make it easier to hide those too. Patients with facial surgeries can use scarves, hats, and shawls to help cover up too.

You Can Do Your Consultation Online

Another amazing benefit of getting your plastic surgery done now is the ability to conduct your consultation online with your doctor. This route is optimal for many, as many patients are apprehensive and nervous about that first visit.

Plus, if you want to work with a surgeon who isn’t convenient, location-wise, conducting an online consultation first is a great way to find out if you’ll be a good fit.

Offices Are Safe and Clean

The pandemic has taught everyone how important it is to keep medical spaces clean and safe for patients. While plastic surgery offices have always been known for their clean nature, safe pandemic practices make for an even better space.

Plastic surgery offices are going above and beyond to keep every surface sanitized and safe for patients.

Masks are worn, doctors and patients are social distancing as necessary, and Covid-19 concerns are readily addressed.

Take Advantage of This Time to Get the Plastic Surgery You’ve Always Dreamed Of

Plenty of people have plastic surgery procedures they’ve always dreamed of getting. However, it can be extremely difficult to take time off work and have ample time to heal in privacy.

Due to lockdowns, there are fewer social gatherings, and many people and families are staying home. Because so many individuals would rather keep their procedures private, now is the best time to get plastic surgery done and heal at home.

Depending on your job, you might not even have to take time off of work.
