NAD+ Injections

At Wave Plastic Surgery

The new paradigm in medicine nowadays is anti-aging. And when it comes to anti-aging, addressing at its core is essential. It’s no secret that in the past two years, NAD+ injections have become incredibly popular among celebrities, tech gurus and elite athletes. Here at Wave Plastic Surgery, we offer NAD+ injections through two methods: intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM), with options for various sites such as the arms or thighs.

What is NAD+?

NAD+, or Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, is a critical biomolecule that plays a significant role in cellular energy metabolism, redox reactions, and gene expression regulation.

It’s a vital component for life, involved in the energy metabolism, redox reactions, and gene expression control in cells, and is crucial for cell aging regulation and maintaining normal bodily functions.

Why is NAD+ important?

The human body relies on mitochondrial oxidation of nutrients for energy, with NAD+ serving as a crucial catalyst. Without enough catalysts, reactions cannot proceed. NAD+ is present in all living cells, playing an essential role in regulating cell aging and maintaining normal bodily functions.

Over time, aging leads to a significant reduction in NAD+ levels in our bodies. Imagine our bodies as complex machines, with NAD+ being akin to a type of energy battery. This energy battery ensures the smooth operation of various body parts, like keeping our skin, muscles, brain, and other organs healthy. As time goes by, just like any machine that wears out, our bodies also gradually show signs of aging.

A key factor in this process is the declining level of our “energy battery” NAD+, similar to a battery losing its charge.

This decline leads to several issues:

In essence, as we age and our NAD+ levels decrease, our bodies gradually lose vitality, and various problems can arise, akin to an aging machine starting to malfunction.

Who is a Good Candidate for NAD+, and what are the benefits of it?

Candidate:

Can NAD+ help with Alzheimer’s too?

At this point, the conditions being treated with intravenous NAD+ are very broad, while the clinical literature to answer these questions is very sparse. A review of the literature suggests that the highest dosages of intravenous NAD+ are being used to treat Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease and various forms of cognitive dementia.

Side Effects and Safety of NAD+ Injections

The most commonly reported adverse effects from administration of intravenous NAD+ are tachycardia, diaphoresis, anxiety, nausea, abdominal discomfort, cramping, fatigue, headaches, and diarrhea. Avoidance of these side effects can be managed by making sure the patient arrives for her treatment well-hydrated, decreasing the dosage of NAD+ administered, and slowing the rate of administration.

In order to minimize side effects, it seems to be generally accepted practice to administer intravenous NAD+ over a minimum of a one-hour period. There are no double-blinded placebo based prospective studies to answer the question you pose. Based on an extensive literature review, best practice appears to be to infuse the baseline starting dose of NAD+ over two hours, and then, if well tolerated, gradually titrate the dose administered upward to maximal effect. At that point, you can experiment with decreasing the infusion time, if desired by the patient. If the starting dosage of intravenous NAD+ is not well tolerated by the patient during or after the infusion, you can decrease the initial dose and/or extend the time of infusion.

While this has not yet been formally studied, at this juncture, there are no known long-term risks of intravenous NAD+ therapy.

Why Choose Wave to Get Your NAD+?

There are many, many forms and brands of NAD+ on the market currently, each with varying degrees of effectiveness. For Wave, we exclusively use NAD+ in its pure powder form, sourced from FDA-regulated 503B pharmacies. This means all the NAD+ is manufactured in a controlled, sterile environment, reducing the risk of contamination and thus much safer to use. The powder form is also the most potent and effective, preserving the product’s integrity until it’s ready for your infusion.
